More Than Just Visible Screens: Smooth Precision Motion Mechanisms Reshape the Smart Cabin Experience
2026.04.30

The 2026 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition is in full swing, with smart cabins once again taking center stage in the industry spotlight. While most players focus on visible features such as large-screen interaction and voice control, Smooth turns its attention to the invisible details — precision motion mechanisms including screen rotating shafts, tailgate hinges and micro reduction gearboxes, which quietly determine the operating feel, quality performance and safety performance of vehicle cabins.

As a leading domestic overall solution provider for intelligent micro motion mechanisms, Smooth has been deeply engaged in this sector for 17 years. Debuting at this auto show with its new positioning as a Co-creation Partner for Cabin Motion Control, the company systematically presents full-scenario solutions covering reduction gearboxes, hinges and MIM components, delivering core support for the underlying motion control of smart cabins.

From Drawing-Based Processing to Solution Co-Creation: The Evolution of Smooth’s Service Philosophy

In the implementation of smart cabin projects, most automakers face a common challenge: the lack of quiet, stable and durable executive components leads to drawbacks such as excessive noise, poor operating feel and stuttering, making it difficult to turn design concepts into practical products.

Smooth engages deeply from the conceptual stage of projects, collaborating with automakers to tackle challenges in design layout, performance matching and cost control, and providing one-stop services from solution design to mass production. To date, Smooth has accumulated over 1,600 mature solutions covering six major application sectors, serving clients across more than 30 countries and regions worldwide.

Adhering to the stringent standards of the automotive industry, Smooth has obtained IATF 16949 certification. It has built intelligent manufacturing bases in Shenzhen, Dongguan and Huzhou, equipped with over 1,000 production devices and more than 520 testing equipment. The daily production capacity reaches 2 million units, with a monthly output of 50 million units. All products undergo more than 20 professional tests to meet strict automotive-grade standards.

Three Core Components: Building the Motion Cornerstone of Cabin Experience

Smooth’s smart cabin solution centers on three core product lines, covering major motion control scenarios inside the cabin and helping automakers solve pain points in silence, service life and precision.

Ultra-Quiet Reduction Gearbox: Silent Driver for Cabin Interaction

With the growing number of electric components in smart cabins, issues like loud operating noise, stuttering and jitter have become increasingly prominent. Adopting self-developed technologies, Smooth’s precision reduction gearbox operates with noise as low as below 39dB. Ideal for high-frequency interaction scenarios such as central control screen adjustment and tailgate control, it delivers a smooth and ultra-quiet operating experience. Having passed hundreds of thousands of lifecycle tests, the product maintains stable performance without obvious aging or stuttering after long-term use, enabling automakers to convert creative designs into reliable end products.

High-Durability Automotive Hinges: Reliable Connection for High-Frequency Opening & Closing

As high-frequency touch components in vehicle cabins, hinges with looseness or abnormal noise will greatly undermine users’ recognition of overall vehicle quality. Leveraging precision rotating shaft technologies accumulated in the consumer electronics sector, Smooth has developed a full range of automotive-grade high-durability hinges. Under rigorous testing, the products remain smooth and stable after hundreds of thousands of opening and closing cycles, fully complying with automotive-grade application standards.

High-Precision MIM Components: Precision Support for Complex Structures

Small-sized parts such as electronic shift knobs demand extremely high standards in precision, strength and lightweight design, which traditional manufacturing processes can hardly satisfy. Smooth boasts domestically leading MIM (Metal Injection Molding) technology. Its plastic gears reach Class PL1 precision, and powder metallurgy gears achieve Grade 6 precision. Custom high-precision components can be developed to meet diversified cabin design needs and break the limitations of traditional processing techniques.

Independent R&D & Vertical Integration: Forging a Stable and Reliable Automotive Supply Chain

Smooth’s core competitiveness stems from independent R&D of key technologies and in-depth control over production processes. The company has built technological moats across multiple fields, with the independent R&D rate of core components approaching 100%. It can rapidly respond to automakers’ customized demands, shorten development cycles and cut overall costs.

Amid frequent supply chain fluctuations in the industry, Smooth realizes full-process independent control from design to manufacturing. It ensures consistent product quality while flexibly catering to large-scale mass production demands, emerging as a trusted partner for an increasing number of automakers.

At the 2026 Beijing Auto Show, Smooth demonstrated the true value of cabin motion control technology to the industry. Looking ahead, the company will continue to deepen core technology R&D, deliver more competitive customized solutions for global automakers, and empower the high-quality development of the intelligent mobility industry.
